Top Tips to Get Your Dog’s Exercise Back on Track

Improve your dog’s fitness

Dogs can fall into the trap of weight gain through the winter months and can very easily pile on the pounds. Excess fat on your pet is very damaging to their health and can in fact reduce their life expectancy. Weight can put pressure on your pets’ internal organs and can lead to health complications such as joint pain, diabetes, cancer, heart & lung problems etc. An overweight dog is at high risk of a shortened life expectancy. So, we have some tips for you to increase the time you have, to spend with your dog.

It is very important that you are aware of what best to feed your dog based on their breed and size. Get advice on the right brand of food to be feeding your dog as well as how frequent and the quantity. You may be overfeeding your dog or even under feeding your dog so if you are any bit unsure be sure to seek professional advice.

Pug Exercise

Take better control of your dog when out walking with PawTrails secure, reflective and comfortable dog harness. The harness is easy to put on and adjustable to fit your dog perfectly. Become your dog’s own personal trainer and lead by example, by getting out and getting active with them. PawTrails tracks your adventures which gives you a summary of your dog's walk so you can see when and where improvements are made in time, distance, speed etc

If you are limited for time or the weather is putting a dampener on getting outside for a walk, there are other options to increase your dogs exercise. Set up indoor stimulating dog games that encourage them to move and stay active throughout the day

Keep your routine consistent to maintain results and continue to hit new goals.

Always consult your vet if you are unsure about your pets weight and the recommended exercise for their size and breed.

Do you think your dog gets enough exercise?
