Tips To Prevent Your Dog Going Missing

It’s something that may play on the back of your mind but what do you do if your dog goes missing? You might not ever think about it and we don’t tend to panic until it happens, but prevention is always bestBelow are a few tips on ways you can prevent your dog going missing to save the stress and worry.

Secure

When you are at home, secure your garden and house so there are no easy escape routes for them to squeeze through.

Technology

PawTrails is a great way to keep track of your pet so if they manage to sneak out of the garden or bolt off when walking, you can stay hot on their heels with Live Tracking. The PawTrails app shows you your dogs’ location and the direction they are heading. This can save hours of searching and looking in the wrong direction. PawTrails helps you find your pet straight away and gives you the peace of mind knowing where they are.

Identification

All dogs should be microchipped and records should be always kept up to date, especially if you change your contact number or move address. This increases your chances of the person who locates your dog being able to get in contact with you and return them to where they belong.

If you haven’t put a plan in place and your dog has gone missing, here are some resources to help find them.

  • Post on social media asking for peoples help
  • Contact your local police, animal rescue center and vet clinic
  • Get in touch with your local radio station to see has anyone reported finding a dog.
  • Keeping microchip information up to date for when your dog is found you can be reunited.
